Album #7 from Go Ahead Punk Is Tearing It Up ‘9 Ways From Sunday’!
A super productive month from the end of November 2025 to New Year’s Day 2026 yielded an entire album of material (Two Heads Better) during one of the most productive periods of my songwriting and producing career. With 6 new songs written, two songs repurposed, rearranged, moved and reproduced from other albums, as well as a “lost track”, one I had forgotten all about from more than a decade ago, and I had an entirely new album demo done in 30 days!
With no room left on the 9-song, 38-minute-long “Two Heads Better” album, a natural spillover occurred and here we are, writing and producing another high volume of songs, literally, 9 ways from Sunday!
It started with a song title idea I had, “A Heyday of Heydays” is about the times in your life that were not only heydays but a significant time of life, on which you don’t anticipate will be so when going through it. Followed up by a song that I wrote way back in 2003 (a very productive songwriting year for me), one of 4 “hits” I wrote that year with extreme hooks in them, the song “Show” represents a work I have spent more than 20 years and several different versions and iterations of.

Scotchtown Place
Maybe I didn’t Know, and couldn’t say,
but I knew I was a long way
Quite a distance, the persistence
in this instance of this little time and space
Awake in bed, just five years old,
one day, I looked around
as the light came through my plaid drapes
My existence no coincidence
how I ended up in this place
Big Wheel, bikes, skinned knees
and the girl across the street
seemed to me so far from where I ought to be
Twenty-one awkward years on Scotchtown Place
just to move twenty-five hundred miles away
Packed up all of my fears in one suitcase
that I vowed never would see the light of day
Blew my small-town mind for a desert scape
one small block for one hundred degrees, I’d trade
Relocate the boy but you can’t take
the boy out of Scotchtown Place
Little pyro child, striking matchbook flames
and burning my memories
of earlier times in my mind where I
might have found out some things I’d buried deep
Only knew my mom, my school, my street
Hadn’t even yet found my feet
But, disturbed by absurd suburban curtains
that only served to relocate me
in a middle-classic neighborhood, you see,
that surrounded me with the mystery
compounded on a black and white TV
Twenty-one awkward years on Scotchtown Place
just to move twenty-five hundred miles away
Packed up all of my fears in one suitcase
that I vowed never would see the light of day
Blew my small-town mind for a desert scape
one small block for one hundred degrees, I’d trade
Relocate the boy but you can’t take
the boy out of Scotchtown Place
You can drag me away, way out there,
and I can run to the middle of nowhere,
but Middletown holds me back in despair,
stuck between a rock and Scotchtown Place
Twenty-one awkward years on Scotchtown Place
just to move twenty-five hundred miles away
Packed up all of my fears in one suitcase
that I vowed never would see the light of day
Blew my small-town mind for a desert scape
one small block for one hundred degrees, I’d trade
Relocate the boy but you can’t take
the boy out of Scotchtown Place
You can’t take the boy out of Scotchtown Place
You can’t take the boy out of Scotchtown Place
You can’t take the boy out of Scotchtown Place
You can’t take the boy out of Scotchtown Place
You can’t take the boy out of Scotchtown Place

Got to Be More Than One
Nothin right now makes any sense
Confusing turn of today’s events
I refute compelling evidence
that this could ever come down to this end
Never in a million years could there be somebody else
How could there?
The only explanation I hear over this tolling bell is there’s
Got to be more than one
Got to be more than one
Got to be more than one
only way you’d stray apart from me
There can’t be more than one,
than this one explanation
Got to be more than one
There’s got to be more than one of me
I basked in years of blind innocence,
abused by all my ignorance,
betrayed by all that time
I spent giving you my falsest confidence
Time’s now passed, and all my fears on delay now manifest,
and my mind blows to bits within an extinction-level event
So there’s
Got to be more than one
Got to be more than one
Got to be more than one
only way you’d stray apart from me
God can’t give more than one,
than this one explanation
Got to be more than one
There’s got to be more than one of me
And I say gleefully
that you’ve been faithful to me
and betrayal couldn’t be
unless theres more than one of me
Got to be more than one of me in there,
because I know that you never would dare
be with some random
with the exception of me in tandem
and duplicate copies
These years in denial
My image shattered,
all these years later, when I discovered
that maybe it’s just me,
the one and only,
not your one and only
Got to be more than one
Got to be more than one
Got to be more than one
Got to be more than one
only way you’d stray apart from me
God can’t give more than one,
than this one explanation
Got to be more than one
There’s got to be more than one of me

A Heyday of Heydays
Here’s the thing about them heydays,
when they’re starting from the gun,
Oh, nobody sees them coming,
only recount them when they’re done
Fear’s gonna bring me all my maydays,
alarmed about them,
every single one
But, in the end, my future heyday
blew the past to kingdom come
And, no, you’re not eccentric
And, no, I’m not delusional
Our circles are concentric,
and there is no confusion, oh
A heyday of heydays
you gave me
Let me count
the ways it saved me
My mind often replays,
can’t blame me
From this side of always,
a heyday of heydays!
30 years out from Nantucket,
that ferry ride was all we’d need
Shivering from wind, but fuck it
Hyannis got us to concede
Each iteration, you’d express it loudly
That hometown bar
heard every single one
“What’s WRONG with you?”
the question you asked me,
after, just for fun!
And it wasn’t dependent,
on anything unusual
Connected with intention,
in a catalytic fusion, oh
A heyday of heydays
you gave me
Let me count
the ways it saved me
My mind often replays,
can’t blame me
From this side of always,
a heyday of heydays!
And when you descended,
unexpected, down the stairs
leather jacket, boots
and Marlboro Reds
I was yours right then and there
Didn’t dare leave it open-ended,
not before you’d leave that room,
because in our hearts and heads
we knew that you were mine, too
A heyday of heydays!
A heyday of heydays!
And we had both consented
Instant friendship, not intrusion, no
An escape for us just rested
on going where we knew we’d go
And we both knew we’d make it so!
A heyday of heydays
you gave me
Let me count
the ways it saved me
My mind often replays,
can’t blame me
From this side of always,
a heyday of
A heyday of heydays
you gave me
Let me count
the ways it saved me
My mind often replays,
can’t blame me
From this side of always,
a heyday of heydays!

Show
How did this get so dramatic
in the first place?
Needed your space!
It was so anticlimactic
You went your way
and left no trace
But now you show up
back on the scene,
and I don’t even know
what it means
I’m over you,
and how you
Show up unannounced just to
show me you’ve changed, but you
show your true self
Shows up in the way that you
show up on the scene and you
show me how mean
you can be to me, oh
You put on quite a show
Didn’t have to wait
for an ending
You made your break,
and in your wake,
the wasted time
I’ve been spending
all for your sake
What a mistake
But, now you’re here
and making a scene,
acting out some
movie you’d seen
I’m over you,
and how you
Show up unannounced just to
show me you’ve changed, but you
show your true self
Shows up in the way that you
show up on the scene and you
show me how mean
you can be to me, oh
You put on quite a show
I was there after
you had gone,
but you didn’t show
until I moved on
And now I know how
it was all a show!
And, I don’t think
I owe you a thing
for all the sordid
memories you bring
I’m over you,
and how you
Show up unannounced just to
show me you’ve changed, but you
show your true self
Shows up in the way that you
show up on the scene and you
show me how mean
you can be to me, oh
You put on quite a
Show up unannounced just to
show me you’ve changed, but you
show your true self
Shows up in the way that you
show up on the scene and you
show me how mean
you can be to me, oh
You put on quite a show
You put on quite a show

Pink Satin Panties
If this is not what I think
then tell me what I see
‘cause it smells like bullshit to me
It’s not what you say
that makes me wanna puke
It’s way you blow around your steam
So I insist that you get out of my hair
and I invite you to find another pair
of pink satin underwear
Kiss my pink satin panties
I am on my way,
you didn’t think I would
You and our memories left behind
Just packed my pink satin panties
in my old suitcase
and I’m gone for good
And the best you’ll see
as this unwinds are
my pink satin panties from behind
from behind
If my timing is wrong
then tell me when it’s right
cause I don’t know a better time
The moment is now
This minute is the one
that you’ll need a moment to yourself
So I object when I get home and you’re there
and I invite you to find another pair
of pink satin underwear
Kiss my pink satin panties
I am on my way,
you didn’t think I would
You and our memories left behind
Just packed my pink satin panties
in my old suitcase
and I’m gone for good
And the best you’ll see
as this unwinds are
my pink satin panties from behind
You can keep everything, I don’t mind
Don’t check it out with me, it’s fine
I’m giving you everything of mine
except for one thing you won’t find
so just kiss them good-bye
kiss them good-bye, yeah
yeah!
And I object, when I get home and you’re there
and I invite you to find another pair
of pink satin underwear…
Kiss my pink satin panties
I am on my way,
you didn’t think I would
You and our memories left behind
Just packed my pink satin panties
in my old suitcase
and I’m gone for good
But you’ll only see them from behind
There go my my pink satin panties
You won’t beg me to stay,
But perhaps you should
Gave you my heart,
you robbed me blind
Just packed my pink satin panties
in my old suitcase
and I’m gone for good
And the best you’ll see
as this unwinds are
my pink satin panties from behind
my pink satin panties from behind
my pink satin panties from behind
Yeah, from behind
(my pink satin panties)
from behind
(my pink satin panties)
from behind
my pink satin panties from behind
my pink satin panties from behind
