This is one of two songs that carry the subtitles “Not a Christmas Song” and “Also not a Christmas Song” because they weren’t written to be Christmas Songs.

This song and its “sister” song (“Taking Down Christmas”) were created using two Christmas metaphors, one regarding my absolute favorite night of the year and the other using the dreaded downer of the day AFTER Christmas, when all the excitement of the season has climaxed and is now over until next year. Traditionally, a letdown for me.

Both scenarios are metaphoric; however, nearly everyone who has heard both songs insists that they ARE INDEED Christmas songs. Far be it from me to say otherwise.
